The Jamaica GPS Map is a simple, accurate and entirely offline GPS navigation app for iPhone or iPad 3G. All map data and app features are stored within your device, allowing you to use the app and explore freely without the worry of expensive data charges from your mobile carrier. Features: • Navigation from current position to destination • Voice guidance provided • 2D and 3D navigation views • Thousands of searchable points of interest (many with phone, email, website, or other contact info) • Detailed geographic features including buildings, lakes, parks, golf courses, etc. Brucecb If you are a foreigner, take it, but also bring a hard copy map with you.
It lets you know you are 'on' the road that you want, especially since you may find forks where you won't be sure which way to follow. It doesn't show names of towns or areas, but it is a useful tool for the winning roads and lack of signs in Jamaica. It doesn't quite reflect the road's real details - so, if the road is straight on the map, it doesn't mean necessarily that it is a straight road. We use it for a trip at night from Kingston to Ocho Rios through the mountains (Red Hill Road - We were recommended to take that road to avoid traffic. Interesting ride; scary some times as we rode just at the edge of the mountain on a two-way road.
It might have been quite a view if taken during the day.). If you are a foreigner, take it, but also bring a hard copy map with you. Seanj2 I am currently using this App in Jamaica and it does not direct you to any address location unless you know before-hand exactly where you are going. Which defeats the purpose of needing this app in the first place.
The app is unintuitive and has no input fields for an address or street location, but rather has inputs for longitude & latitude coordinates and a third field to label your saved coordinates. A GPS app that cannot locate a destination by a street or address input by the user is useless. Having to type in longitude & latitude cords to get around town is ridiculous. The graphic display is very rudimentary and does not give any heads-up display of the name of the street you are currently on nor upcoming left or right turns. The app will however track your location as you drive around, but that's all. I would like a refund.
